Triple Sec: Maison Ferrand Dry Curacao

Like cocktails? Then you simply cannot do without a bottle of top-class Triple Sec in your drinks cabinet.

It is a stone-cold classic staple for any discerning drinkers, a key component in a whole host of classics including the Corpse Reviver, Margarita, Sidecar and the White Lady.

More recently, the orange-tinged liqueur has found fame in the Cosmopolitan but Triple Sec has more to offer beyond mere cameo roles – especially the world-class Dry Orange Curaçao from Maison Ferrand.

The Pierre Ferrand Dry Orange Curaçao, based on a 19th century recipe, has been crafted in consultation with cocktail historian David Wondrich.

A traditional French “triple sec” – it consists of three separate distillations of spices and the “sec” or bitter, peels of Curacao oranges blended with brandy and Ferrand Cognac.

The Curaçao and sweet oranges drive much of the flavour but other botanicals include vanilla, prunes and lemon peel while the sugar content has been deliberately kept to a minimum – at just 180 grams per litre, it deserves its ‘dry’ label.

The result is a rich, complex and balanced liqueur that will bring new sophistication to your Punches, Slings, Fizzes and, of course Cocktails.

It is also delicious straight up or on ice.
