Courvoisier VSOP

The Courvoisier VSOP is a blend of several crus including Fins Bois, Grande and Petite Champagnes, all selected at the peak of their aromatic potential. The result is an balanced cognac with notes of peach and toasted almond with the gentle hint of vanilla and jasmine. The Cognac house says the eaux-de-vie are aged between 4 and 10 years and are sourced from the Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne regions of Cognac, France, but it’s fair to say they’re on the older side here, because this is a full bodied and rich spirit.
There’s a lively finish to it, spicy, a bit of heat, but this is certainly a decent drop to serve up neat, perhaps with a bit of ice to temper that spice. At £40 it’s great value for money and at that price, won’t make you feel you’re pouring such a high quality brandy into cocktails.
