Buffalo Trace takes its name from trails the Irish and Scots followed towards Kentucky after the Founding Fathers taxed whiskey.
The bourbon is made at the oldest continuously working distillery in America and is a great example of type. Previously the George T Stagg distillery, it was renamed Buffalo Trace at the turn of the century, and also produces the likes of Eagle Rare and Blantonâs, multi-award winning whiskies.
The Kentucky Straight Buffalo Trace is a great introduction to the category, complete with all the characteristics youâd hope for in a bourbon. Sweet vanilla jumps up the nose and bounces around your bonce, while the leather and oak on the palate gives you plenty to linger over. Great neat or in cocktails like a julep or an Old Fashioned.
